WHERE DOES THE BRAND COME FROM?

Carla and I met about nine years ago. Since then our paths have gone hand in hand. We were roommates in New York, coworkers in Barcelona and friends who became family.

We had been dreaming of starting a business for a long time but the pandemic was what drove us. I don't know either or IDKE (that's the name of our brand) is born from our drive and willingness to contribute to a positive change with our planet. This pandemic brought a lot of uncertainty to our lives. We didn't know if we would be able to travel, if establishments would open or not, if we would be able to visit our loved ones or not. From there comes the idea of ​​“I don't know either” or what is the same, “I don't know either.”


WHY THE WORLD OF FASHION?


We believe and are very committed that we must contribute to stopping the fast fashion industry. The figures are overwhelming. Currently around 80,000 million garments are manufactured per year. If we do not reduce the
consumption, by 2050 we will need three times more natural resources compared to those used in the 2000s.

Returning to the reason for the world of fashion. We always loved it, especially the urban one because it was everyday life. And it is there, on a daily basis, where we can apply small changes so that our society improves. But more than offering trendy clothing, we are very committed to seeking sustainability in each garment or product we offer. In raising awareness and trying to unlearn the detestable “use and throw away”.

BEGINNINGS AND INSPIRATION.


The beginnings of idke were born on a sofa, with a delivery on the table and a brainstorming session on paper that we still have. Hahahahahaha

We were clear that we wanted to create something together and contribute in some way to creating a positive change in our society. As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, small changes that contribute a lot to our day
day.

We wanted revolutionary garments and revolutionary phrases like our “Fuck 2020” which is one of the best-selling t-shirts we have. We were also clear that we wanted to collaborate with foundations and NGOs, so we began to think about which ones we felt most identified with.

Today, we donate €1 from each product in our collection to foundations such as Ecodes, Ecomar, CemCat, AfricanDoto and AECC (Catalunya Contra el Cancer).

All of them fight to achieve a better future on our planet or to make people's quality of life improve as much as possible.

All those people behind the foundations are part of the daily motivation for this project to reach the top.

MOTIVATION TO ACHIEVE GOALS IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY.



Motivation is an engine that you have to have on 24 hours a day and even more so when you are starting out. Hahahahahaha.

The beginnings are not easy and even less so if you start from scratch in a sector. But it is that same motivation and teamwork that make us see the desired results.

Collaborating with foundations such as ECOMAR or entities such as ECODES, keep us awake when it comes to achieving sustainable objectives. Any information you can provide is more than good.

Looking towards a sustainable future is no longer something we can decide but a path we must take together, so every day we try to get closer to those goals, especially being more aware every day and being able to help other people to do the same. be.


CURRENT MOMENT AND CHALLENGES FOR THE FUTURE.

Well, we're just getting started! We started sales in April and haven't stopped since. We couldn't imagine all the work that was behind an e-commerce. From the moment of creation, then the logistics system, social networks, etc... but we are very happy with the results. We know that little by little, with perseverance we are going to get where we want to go.

And speaking of challenges, one of the biggest would be to position ourselves as an ecological brand. That would mean having created a great community and that our message and everything we want to convey can reach thousands and thousands of people.
